Spain beats Italy in UEFA Nations League semi-final
Substitute scores late winner to send Spain to final
Spain booked their place in the final of the UEFA Nations League with a 2-1 victory over Italy in Gelsenkirchen on Thursday.
Substitute Joselu scored a fortunate winner three minutes from the end to give Spain the victory. The goal came after a long ball forward from Sergio Ramos found Joselu in the Italy area. The Real Betis striker took a touch and then fired a shot that deflected off Leonardo Bonucci and into the net.
Spain had taken the lead in the first half through a penalty from Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid defender converted from the spot after Nicolo Zaniolo had brought down Dani Olmo in the area.
Italy equalized in the second half through a goal from Ciro Immobile. The Lazio striker headed home from close range after a cross from Federico Chiesa.
Spain will now face either France or Belgium in the final of the UEFA Nations League. The match will be played on Sunday at the San Siro in Milan.
